Procoding – Mobile HTML5 Code Sketching IDE

Procoding stands out as a comprehensive mobile IDE for creative coding and generative design pioneering as one of the first apps of its kind in 2012, offering a wide array of features tailored to meet the needs of mobile developers and artists. Its focus on providing a seamless, portable coding experience sets a new standard for mobile development platforms. As the application continued to evolve over the years until it was retired in 2019, it introduced capabilities that enriched the creative coding landscape on mobile devices.

The last update of Procoding has been comprehensive, introducing new features such as iCloud synchronization, resource integration, and export capabilities as self-contained HTML5 project folders and a locally managed server preview for devices in your WiFi-network.
Procoding Mobile is a mobile code-sketching integrated development environment (IDE) specifically designed for iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch devices. It provides a user-friendly interface, eliminating the need for complex file management. Users can effortlessly create new sketches and begin coding without any initial setup. The platform natively supports HTML5 Canvas scripts, ensuring seamless integration. Upon creating a new Procoding sketch, a canvas object is automatically generated, accommodating various screen sizes, retina displays, orientations, and styles. This simplifies the coding process, allowing developers to focus on their tasks without unnecessary configuration.
For HTML5 Canvas sketches, the JSHint live syntax checker provides real-time feedback, identifying any potential errors. Additionally, offline documentation is included for HTML, JavaScript/ECMA, CSS, and the Canvas API, enabling developers to continue coding even in remote locations.

Procoding Mobile also offers native support for processing.js, a JavaScript implementation of the widely known Processing programming language. This feature is particularly advantageous for mobile developers, as it allows them to code and test directly on their iOS-devices. Procoding supports various device features, including Touch, device orientation, and geolocation, providing students and creative minds with a comprehensive platform for mobile development.

To facilitate collaboration and enhance the learning experience, Procoding includes a selection of demo sketches that can be used as starting points for new projects. A selection of searchable API documentations is included offline for a quick look-up.
The Resource Manager has been introduced to simplify the integration of external libraries. The Resource Manager offers a range of functionalities, including resource management, library installation, and version control.

New in v 2.5 is also a HTML5 Export: Select the sketch and export as HTML5. There will be a folder in your document folder, that you can send to any other app or access it via iTunes. Put that folder on a server and you have your Procoding sketch as WebApp – without Procoding!

With iCloud support, you can code on your iPad, go to the iPhone and just pick up where you left.
